After-school activities for children in Malmö

308 groups at 119 organisers in Malmö for children and young people, most in Kirseberg, Innerstaden, and Hyllie. 2 groups have spot status from the last two weeks. Most groups are in football, swimming lessons, and martial arts. Prices are given for 66 groups, and 6 of them are free.

Fritidskortet in Malmö

What is Fritidskortet?

Fritidskortet, the leisure card, is state support you can use to pay for your children's leisure activities. It covers regular activities in, for example, sport, culture and outdoor life. The card started in September 2025. It is run by the Public Health Agency of Sweden, the Swedish eHealth Agency, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Arts Council and the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society. The City of Malmö does not manage the card for clubs, only for its own arts school.

Who gets it, and how much?

Each child gets 550 kronor a year, from the year the child turns 6 up to and including the year they turn 16. Six-year-olds were added on 10 August 2026. When the card started, it applied from age 8 and the amount was lower, so older information may show other figures.

If you received housing allowance or housing supplement last year, you can apply for 2,500 kronor per child. This covers housing supplement from both the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and the Swedish Pensions Agency. The guardian who received the support must apply. The card is personal, so siblings cannot share it and money cannot be moved between children's cards. The card does not affect the right to financial assistance.

What can you pay for?

The activity must be led by a leader and be regular, meaning at least six sessions within six months. You can pay training fees, participation fees and membership fees, and rental of equipment or aids your child needs to take part. The club or arts school must have joined the scheme. On fritidskortet.se you can search by name or organisation number. The card can also be used in municipalities other than the one where your child lives. Activities that are already free are not covered.

How to use it

  1. Sign your child up directly with the club or arts school. You cannot sign up through Fritidskortet.
  2. Wait until your child has a place and you have received an invoice.
  3. Log in with an e-ID, apply for the money and pay. If the club has its own payment system connected to the scheme, use that; otherwise pay on fritidskortet.se.
  4. Pay by 30 November. Money left over cannot be saved for next year. You can pay for activities that ended this year, are running now, or start later this year or next year.

If you do not have an e-ID, you can apply with a paper form. Customer service is on 0771-18 19 18, and you can book an interpreter.

Kulturskolan and clubs in Malmö

Malmö Kulturskola has joined the scheme and is listed as MALMÖ KOMMUN on fritidskortet.se. You pay the invoice through fritidskortet.se and enter the invoice's OCR number. The card cannot be used afterwards if you have already paid another way. If the money does not cover the full amount, you pay the rest as usual.

The city has no information on how each club handles the card, so ask the club whether it has joined and how you should pay. Kul i Malmö, the city's free activities for children and young people, costs nothing, so the card is not needed there.
